Dream It & Do It is a good attempt in bringing life stories of 100 eminent personalities representing 100 professions or career options to inspire young minds. The concise format of 2 page story dedicated to each personality accompanied with an illustration of the related person makes it an easy and fast read. One can choose to pick up any professional’s story from the table of contents, at any given point of time, depending upon their interest in a certain person’s name or a particular career.
I loved the fact the book breaks down the broader career categories into several sub-categories. For example – The main heading of ‘Artists’ is divided into writers, performers and designers. Furthermore, the ‘Writer’ is divided into poet, song-writer, author, editor and journalist. It clearly shows an ample amount of research has gone into creating this book.
While there are a few famous personalities in the list like Dr. Seuss, Warren Buffet, Usain Bolt, Ruth Badger Ginsburg, Stephen Hawkins and Elon Musk, there are a whole lot of other celebrated personalities I was not aware of. This book has been educational for me in this way.
The life stories not only make for good reading but also provide relevant information to the readers as how can young children pursue a particular career, when they grow up, in the closing lines of each story. I found this quite remarkable.
I would recommend this book to the parents of young and old children. The best part is this book is available for free download on Kindle Unlimited in Amazon India.
Meet the Author:
Sharp spent the bulk of her career in new product development—dreaming up intuitive ideas from how to kill bugs to new ice cream forms to hit grocery shelves. A self-proclaimed problem-solver, she loves to think about the things that the world needs and figuring out how to make those things come to life. “Knowing in high school what I wanted to do with my life set me up for the right path. I wanted the same for my child and searched for books to guide her, but came up short,” Sharp said. “That’s when I thought, ‘why not write the book for my child that she needs and that will also help others?”
